IU Professor Recovering After London Bus Accident

Last updated on Wednesday, May 1, 2013

(BLOOMINGTON) - An Indiana University professor seriously injured when she was hit by a bus during a trip to London says she’s on her way to a “complete recovery.”

Lisa Bingham told students and staff at IU's School of Public and Environmental Affairs in a Monday letter that she hopes to resume teaching this fall.

The Herald-Times reports Bingham says she and colleague Terry Amsler thought they had the "all clear" to cross a London intersection Feb. 9 when a bus came around a corner and struck them. Both suffered fractured skulls.

Bingham regained consciousness from a medically induced coma in mid-March and soon returned to the U.S. She was discharged April 5 from an in-patient treatment center in Indianapolis.

Amsler returned to the U.S. two weeks ago.
