IU President To Visit Asia Seeking To Expand Reach

Last updated on Sunday, May 19, 2013

(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana University President Michael McRobbie is heading for South Korea, China and Taiwan seeking to broaden the school’s international reach.

McRobbie will lead a group of IU officials who will leave Saturday for Asia. He plans to renew or sign several agreements between IU and higher education institutions. He also will meet with alumni and with business and government leaders, and attend two special receptions for IU's newest students from China and South Korea.

The university has identified 30 countries as priorities and seeks to strengthen institutional ties, increase research opportunities and provide greater access to study abroad for IU students. McRobbie says the Asian countries are home to some of the university's strongest institutional partnerships.
