Road Now Open In Richland

(RICHLAND) - A gravel truck overturned this morning in Greene County at State Road 54 and County Road 725 East.

According to Indiana State Police Sgt. Curt Durnil, 53-year-old Timothy K. Phillips, of Mitchell, was driving the red 1999 Mack dump truck hauling gravel that overturned this morning in Greene County at State Road 54 and County Road 725 East.

That crash has now been cleaned up and traffic is beginning to flow normally.

Just after 8 a.m. for unknown reasons, the truck went off the roadway on the right side of the road, struck an embankment and came to rest on the driver side partially overturned. When the truck hit the earth embankment the right fuel tank ruptured spilling diesel fuel into a ditch. The left fuel tank also leaked diesel fuel when the truck came to a final stop.

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management was called to the scene to oversee the clean up.

Assisting at the scene were Weaver's Wrecker Service, Bland's Wrecker Service Hazmat Team, members of the Center Township Fire Department, Troopers Mark Raper, Ryan Miller, Randy Vanarsdale, Cpl. Alan Deel and Sgt. Todd Durnil.
