Flatbed Overturns, Dumping Mulch On Roadway

Last updated on Thursday, May 9, 2013

(BLOOMINGTON) - A flatbed truck hauling a load of mulch overturned in the 3100 block of Rogers Road, causing that stretch of road to be closed to traffic for more than an hour Tuesday morning.

Abby Tonsing, of the Herald Times reports, Bloomington police and firefighters were called to the accident about 9:10 a.m. The truck had passed through the Sare and Rogers roundabout before the it overturned.

The driver of the truck, 30-year-old Matthew Brooks, told police that as he was driving east on Rogers, his load of mulch shifted, causing the truck to veer off the south side of the road, according to Bloomington police Sgt. Dana Cole.

The Ford truck, owned by Nature's Link Inc., fell onto its passenger side and came to a stop against a tree, dumping the load of mulch.

Police determined the cause of the accident was an insecure load; no citations were issued.
