(HARDINSBURG) - A New Salisbury man was killed in a freak accident early Wednesday morning when a deer came flying through his windshield.
The accident happened at 5:58 a.m. at US 150 and State Road 66 outside of Hardinsburg.
According to a police report, 58-year-old William Sizemore, of Paoli, was traveling east on Ind.150 when he hit a deer that was in the roadway with his 2003 Volkswagen Jetta.
The impact knocked the deer into the path of westbound 1990 Chevrolet half-ton truck driven by 55-year-old Donald R. Harris.
Police say the deer went through Harris' front windshield, killing him instantly.
Harris' truck continued to travel west for about 650 feet, where it left the highway, crashing through a woven wire fence and stopping about 100 feet north of Ind. 150 in a field.
Sizemore was not hurt in the accident.
