Boy Scouts to Host Scout Shop Open House

(BLOOMINGTON) - The Boy Scouts of America is bring an increased level of service to the Bloomington area and the 18 counties served by their new Scout Shop.

The Hoosier Trails Council of the BSA, headquartered in Bloomington, has opened the only BSA National Supply store in the state to support scouting units and their families.

The Scout Shops provides uniforms, camping equipment, awards and supplies, volunteer training resources, a conference room, administrative offices, and record storage. The Service Center is located at 5625 State Road 46, between Bloomington and Nashville, approximately three miles east of College Mall.

The Hoosier Trails Council is hosting an Open House on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Scout families and the public are welcome to visit the Service Center to see the recently updated facility and expanded merchandise selection. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at 1 p.m.

During the open house, there will be scouting activities, facility tours, discounted merchandise, as well as refreshments, all free to the public. The aim is to welcome current and former Scouting enthusiasts to see how our programs are making an impact on families and to see that our teaching methods are as relevant as ever, said Glen Steenberger, Hoosier Trails Council Scout Executive and CEO.
