(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County residents have donated 21,811 pounds of food during the Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive and that number continues to grow as others keep adding to the donations.

Shawswick Middle Schoolers pitched. They held a dance Thursday and admission was a food item.

Donnie Hall, of Lawrence InterFaith Endeavor food pantry stocked 4,124 pounds of food at the Mitchell site.

And the staff at the other county's pantries - LIFE in Bedford, Community Care, Salvation Army and God's Place -- have been busy stocking shelves with donations collected in Bedford and the county's smaller communities.

The 303 pounds of food that was collected Monday was given to Becky's Place, a women and children shelter in Bedford.
