(BEDFORD) - On May 10, Becky's Place will submit a grant request to the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority for an Emergency Solutions Grant.

Father Rick Eldred says the funding of the grant requires a 100 percent match, meaning Becky's Place needs $60,000 in pledges to submit the request. Becky's Place is designed to provide shelter and create hope for women and children who are experiencing homelessness and moving toward a life of self-sufficiency.

The facility will house up to 36 residents.

In addition to providing a safe place to live, the shelter offers meals, case management, support services, counseling, educational resources, vocational training, life skills and compassionate, dedicated staff and volunteers.

Now the community can help made a huge difference providing help and creating hope for these women and children.

Please consider making a financial pledge to Becky's Place for the upcoming fiscal year by noon on Wednesday, May 8th.

Cami Pritchett, Director of the facility says by making us aware of your commitment prior to the ESG grant application due date, your money will be doubled.

It's not that they have to have the money in," Pritchett said. "It's just the commitment. We received a pledge of $10,000 last week."

There are several ways you can give:
* Fill out a pledge form
* Donate online at
* Mail your donation to Becky's Place P.O. Box 503 Bedford, Ind. 47421

Since opening last year, Becky's Place has served 120 residents, 53 of whom were children.

Pritchett says the impact the program has had on these families has been phenomenal. Women are gaining employment, finding homes, regaining custody of their children and gaining access to much needed services.

"With your help, this funding will increase our ability to effectively provide help and offer more and more families some much-needed hope for a better future," she added.
