(WORTHINGTON) - 46-year-old Johnny Turpin, Sr., of Worthington, is accused of a chocking and hitting his son, Johnny Turpin, Jr. in the face. However he says his son was the one who became violent.
The Greene County Daily World reports that the elder Turpin was arrested last Friday morning by Worthington Town Marshal Don Richardson.
Another one of Turpin's sons called 9-1-1 for help during a disturbance at the Turpin home on Lessie Street in Worthington and officers from three departments responded before 10:30 a.m.

Greene County Sheriff's Deputy Harvey Holt and Indiana Conservation Officer Greg Swanson responded to the scene along with Marshal Richardson.
According to Richardson's report, father and son had a disagreement and the younger one told officers his father had grabbed him by the neck causing bloody scratches, pain and redness. He also claimed the father had hit him in the face numerous times. Richardson observed neck injuries but not facial injuries.
When his brother made the call for help, the younger Turpin involved in the altercation said he went outside the home to wait for police to arrive, but he said his father came outside and and started punching him in the face again.
The so then left the property on foot and Deputy Holt found him walking on the road as the officer was approaching the home.
According to Richardson, the mother was present at the time of the incident and told an officer that her husband had gotten upset with Johnny Turpin Jr. and had attacked him both inside and outside the residence.
Johnny Turpin Sr. allegedly told the officers that it was his son who had hit him, was kicking at dogs, knocked over a television and threatened to assault a sibling so he (the father) just got between them and only pushed the son away in order to protect himself.
Johnny Turpin Sr. was taken into custody, transported and booked in to the Greene County Jail where his bond was set at $1,000 surety or ten percent cash. He was released later in the day after posting $100 cash.
Following Turpin's arrest, police were called to the same residence later in the day for a different incident.
Johnny Turpin, Sr. is due in Greene Superior Court Friday morning for an initial hearing when he will be charged with battery resulting in bodily injury, a class A misdemeanor.
