(WORTHINGTON) - The Greee County Daily World reports, 41-year-old Troy J. Hostetter, was arrested last Friday after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Charges were filed after an investigation by the Worthington Police Department.

WPD Town Marshal Don Richardson received a complaint from a woman who said she had visited a residence in Worthington on Feb. 17 and a man she knew as "Troy" was also there.

After she left and was on her way home, she noticed that the H&R Block debit card was missing from her purse. She looked but could not find it anywhere then one of her children told her he saw a man get in her purse while they were at the residence. She called police.

The next day, the woman discovered that on the evening of Feb. 17, four withdrawals had been made from her account. All transactions took place at ATMs in Linton: One at 7:19 p.m. for $400 at Regions Bank; one at 8:28 p.m. for $400 at Bloomfield State Bank; another at 8:29 p.m. for $400 at Bloomfield State Bank; and the last one at 8:31 p.m. for $140 at Bloomfield State Bank.

The amount of money withdrawn from her account totaled $1,340, but a $5 bank fee was added to each transaction to bring the woman's total loss up to $1,360.

Richardson said he reviewed video surveillance footage from security cameras at both banks -- the suspect was wearing items to conceal identity but he said the suspect did match Troy Hostetter in stature.

A couple of weeks later, WPD Officer Randy Raney was conducting a drug investigation. Video and audio was recorded that police say included Hostetter telling another person how another man had stolen the woman's debit card then gave it to him (Hostetter).
Hostetter allegedly said yet another man then drove him to Linton where he (Hostetter) used the card to make withdrawals. The two men then allegedly split the money.

Hostetter was booked into the Greene County Jail where his bond was set at $12,000 cash only. As of Tuesday, he had not posted bond.

He has retained an attorney and the defense waived an initial hearing.

Hostetter has been charged with one count of receiving stolen property, a class D felony, and two counts of theft, both class D felonies.
