(BLOOMFIELD) - The trial of 45-year-old Thomas E. Squibb, Jr. is over and he's free to go.

Anna Rochelle of the Greene County Daily World reports that the case was dismissed early Wednesday after the credibility of his accuser was called into question.

Jury selection began Tuesday morning in Greene Circuit Court for the trial of Squibb, a former Bloomfield man who was accused of rape.

During the court proceedings, Squibb was represented by Attorney James Riester serving as a public defender, the case for the state was being argued by Greene County Deputy Prosecutor Keven McIntosh, and the trial was expected to last at least two days.

But Wednesday morning, McIntosh filed a motion to dismiss the case after the state learned the woman had been untruthful, damaging the credibility of the woman and left the state without sufficient evident to move forward with prosecution.

Squibb was arrested in March 2012 by Indiana State Police Trooper Eric Nash after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

The rape involving Squibb and a woman allegedly occurred on Nov. 13, 2011 at a residence on Ore Branch Rd. in rural Bloomfield where Squibb was living.

Squibb is accused of raping the woman following an evening of drinking alcoholic beverages at the home.

After the incident, the victim is alleged to have walked to a nearby home where she waited for her boyfriend to pick her up. She later went to IU Health Bloomington Hospital for an examination and evidence collection.

Trooper Nash then obtained a search warrant to gather DNA evidence from Squibb and matched that to evidence collected from the victim during the forensic sexual assault examination at the hospital
