Last updated on Sunday, April 21, 2013

(BEDFORD) - More than 300 walkers turned out Saturday morning for the March For Babies run/walk at the Bedford National Guard Armory.

Super Oldies 105.5 raised more than $3000 at the event. The grand total is not in yet, but will be soon.

Registration began at 10 am, with the 1.5 mile walk kicking off 10:30 am.

Z102 morning show host Jeremy Fulk was dressed in his chicken suit and was a huge success with walkers and children who attended the event.

Others there also got to meet and visit with staff members from 1340 AM WBIW, Super Oldies 105.5 and Z102 (102.5).

We want to thank our listeners and all those that attended and helped raise fund for March For Babies. Special thanks to: Joe Elliot who donated $200; Bill Turpen of Advance Concepts - $100; Kellie Kemple, of Sipes Body and Glass with $75; Dana Martin of Marketing Matters $25 and Lori Bowles with $10 and area business, The Uncloggables; IU Credit Union; Big O Tires; Bedford Ford Lincoln Roush; Cox & Kimball Insurance; Simply Clean; Hoosier Crossfit; Stonebridge Health Campus all donated $100.

Super Oldies will sponsor another March For Babies in Bloomington on Sunday April 28 at Bloomington High School South. To register for that event visit wbiw.com, wphz.com or superoldies.net and click on the March for Babies banner at the top of the page. Or just stop by and make a donation. Registration at the event begins at noon with the 3 mile walk starting at 1 pm.

The money raised funds research to find answers to the problems that threaten babies.
March for Babies has been walking since 1970 and have raised an incredible $2 billion to benefit all babies.

The March of Dimes reports premature birth is the leading cause of infant death, and for those who survive, it can mean a life of chronic health problems or disability. Today, in Indiana alone, 33 babies will be born too soon.

Every day, babies are born too soon or very sick. The money you raise in March for Babies helps fund research to find treatments and preventions. And it supports programs in your community that give moms the best chance of a healthy, full-term pregnancy.
