Spierer Family Still Steadfast In Finding Lauren

Last updated on Sunday, April 7, 2013

(BLOOMINGTON) - Two months shy of marking two years since Indiana University student Lauren Spierer was last seen, her parents are steadfast in their efforts to find out what happened to their daughter.

On an active Facebook page , nearly 82,000 people keep track of the latest developments in the search for Spierer, who was last seen near campus on June 3, 2011.

Spierer's parents, Rob and Charlene Spierer, periodically send updates asking for anyone with information to come forward, alternating those with wistful messages about what they imagine Lauren would be doing now.

"She could just as easily still be at IU, getting ready to graduate, getting ready to begin the next phase of her life," read part of a message posted Tuesday morning. "We could be looking forward to Lauren's big day with anticipation, excitement and pride that any parent feels when their child is on the brink of such a wonderful accomplishment."

While the Spierers have resigned themselves to the likelihood that Lauren is dead, that hasn't stopped their will to forge ahead.

"You'd think we would be used to it by now. You'd think our broken hearts would have started to mend," the Spierers wrote. "There will be no future for Lauren. If you are a loving parent, you can appreciate the depths of our commitment. You can imagine what it might be like to receive the most horrible phone call of your life."

The Spierers again called for anyone with information to come forward.

"Lauren did not simply vanish into thin air," they wrote, adding that they are "just as determined as day one."
