Salem Speedway Renamed, Partners With Hoosier Lottery

Last updated on Wednesday, April 17, 2013

(SALEM) - The historic Salem Speedway has a new name.

The Salem Speedway is now The Salem Speedway Fueled by the Hoosier Lottery.

Owner Owen Thompson says that means great things for the race track now that the Hoosier Lottery signed a new naming rights agreement. The agreement was announced Tuesday at a press conference at the track where a new emblem showcasing the name was revealed.

Thompson, who bought the track with his wife Beverly, in the mid-90s after it went into bankruptcy, says this will allow the facility to expand and grow. He added the agreement will also give the track more exposure and may lead to more local jobs.

Thomas says the agreement includes giveaways and other promotions at events throughout the season, beginning with the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA 200 presented by Crosley Racing on Sunday, April 28.

Race fans will also be able to purchase lottery tickets at the track on race days.
