Safe Routes To School Sidewalk Project Meeting In Mitchell

Last updated on Thursday, April 25, 2013

(MITCHELL) - The city of Mitchell will have an informational meeting, open to all residents, at 7 p.m. May 2 to discuss the Safe Routes to School sidewalk project.

The meeting will take place at City Hall.

Representatives from Midwestern Engineers, the engineering firm over the project, as well as King's Excavation, the contractor performing the project, will be on hand to answer questions and concerns from members of the community.

Construction on the long-awaited sidewalk project is expected to begin May 13.

In 2009, the city was awarded a $250,000 grant for the project.

The plan is to construct sidewalks along Hancock Avenue from Burris Elementary School to the railroad tracks near Seventh Street and on 12th Street, from Hancock Avenue to Brook Street.
