NSWC Crane Welcomes New Technical Director

(CRANE) - Dr. Adam Razavian, a longtime supporter and past employee of Crane has been selected as the new Technical Director of Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane).

"I am looking forward to being back in Southern Indiana; both of my sons were born here and it's where I started my career," said Dr. Razavian. "During the last 10 years, working as a Program Manager in Washington, D.C., I have been a customer of NSWC Crane and will be able to bring that perspective to my new position."

As the Technical Director, Dr. Razavian will provide leadership for a workforce of approximately 3000 senior scientists, engineers and other professionals while also overseeing $2 billion in total execution.

Dr. Razavian graduated from the University of Florida in 1985 with a BS in Electrical Engineering and from Jacksonville University with a BS in Physics. He joined the civilian Navy at NSWC Crane Division in 1989. During his first five years, Dr. Razavian served as a hardware and software design engineer. After completing his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 1995, he earned a specialty in Tactical SW and design of Control Systems.

Following a two-year temporary assignment at the Navy Headquarters in 1988, serving as a Project Manager, he served as the Electronics Design and Integration Branch Manager at NSWC Crane Division from 1999-2003. During this time, he completed his Doctoral Degree in Information Systems from NOVA Southeastern University.

He moved to Washington DC in 2003, serving as the Deputy System Integration Program Manager for the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS). In 2005, he served as the Deputy System Integration Program Manager for the DDG 1000 platform. In 2008, Dr. Razavian assumed the Deputy Major Program Manager position for the PEO IWS Above Water Sensors Directorate. His portfolio includes the ACAT 1D Air and Missile Defense Radar Development, Surface Navy EW Programs, Dual Band Radar, SPY-1 and many other Radar and Electronic Warfare Programs for the Surface Navy.

Dr. Razavian states, "The dedicated and talented people at NSWC Crane are making a great difference in the Southern Indiana Region. I look forward to being part of Crane's continued growth as a unique, world-class organization."

NSWC Crane is a Naval Laboratory and a field activity of Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) with focus areas in Special Missions, Strategic Missions and Electronic Warfare/Information Operations. The Warfare Center's research and development efforts support the Warfighter by providing capabilities and resources to advance technologies for the military.
