Last updated on Thursday, April 18, 2013

(BEDFORD) - Form a team, or come and walk for March for Babies at the Bedford National Guard Armory.

Registration begins at 10 am with the 1.5 mile walk at 10:30 am.

Come out and see Z102 morning show host Jeremy Fulk in his chicken suit and meet other staff members from 1340 AM WBIW, Super Oldies 105.5 and Z102 (102.5).

And if you don't want to walk, you can still donate by going to wbiw.com, wphz.com or superoldies.net and click on the March for Babies banner at the top of the page. Or just stop by Saturday and make a donation.

The money raised funds research to find answers to the problems that threaten babies.

March for Babies has been walking since 1970 and have raised an incredible $2 billion to benefit all babies.

The March of Dimes reports premature birth is the leading cause of infant death, and for those who survive, it can mean a life of chronic health problems or disability. Today, in Indiana alone, 33 babies will be born too soon.

Every day, babies are born too soon or very sick. The money you raise in March for Babies helps fund research to find treatments and preventions. And it supports programs in your community that give moms the best chance of a healthy, full-term pregnancy.

The money you raise for stronger, healthier babies is so vital to the lifesaving work of the March of Dimes that they've created an incentive program as a way of saying thank you. When you raise $350 or more in March for Babies, you'll receive a $15 gift card to your choice to either Kmart or Macy's. Raise $500 and get a $25 gift card, and so on. Raise money for a great cause and treat yourself to a gift.

Did you know:

* March for Babies actually donates $3 million to IU for research. Right now they are researching the correlation of cat litter and how it is toxic to the fetus/placenta.

* March for Babies funded the man that researched the impact of folic acid for pregnant women and their babies. This is a HUGE impact on the health of babies right now.

* 100% of what Lawrence County raises for this walk goes directly to the babies.
Our very own St. Vincent - Dunn Hospital has received several grants over the years from March for Babies.
