Man Arrested After Leaving Baby Home Alone

(WASHINGTON) - A domestic dispute that turned physical ended in the arrest of Washington man.

At 7:40 p.m. Saturday, Washington Police were called to 407 South Meridian.

At that time, 36-year-old Fernando Gonzales, told police that a verbal dispute had become physical and his wife had been drinking and had left the home.

About two hours later, Gonzales called Police from Maxwell Avenue. Gonzales says he had gone to the house to take his wife home but was not being allowed in.

When Police arrived, they found Gonzales was intoxicated and that he had left a 4-month old child alone at the Meridian Street address.

Police and Child Protective Services rushed to the South Meridian Street home.

Gonzales was arrested on charges of neglect of a dependent, public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and operating a vehicle without ever being licensed.

He is being held on bond at the Daviess County Security Center.
