(LINTON) - Stacy Tosti, of Linton, is accused of trespassing into a mobile home that did not belong to her, possibly consuming numerous pills as an officer was preparing to give her a ride to jail, later causing a ruckus in the emergency room, and spitting on a female employee at Greene County General Hospital.
Anna Rochelle of the Greene County Daily World reports that these incidents occurred on Sunday.
Tosti was not booked into the Greene County Jail because after the sheriff learned she might have ingested a quantity of pills, and an officer reported she could not walk a straight line to begin with, the sheriff requested she be medically cleared before being arrested. Once she was evaluated in the emergency room, a doctor admitting Tosti to the hospital overnight.
Linton Police Officer Nick Yingling was on his regular patrol when he was dispatched to a location on 7th Street North West after a man reported a woman was in a trailer he owned. The owner told police Tosti was not allowed inside.
Tosti told police she was inside the trailer checking it out because her grandkids were going to stay there. But the owner told police no one lived there - the trailer had burned over three years ago. Tosti reportedly stuck to that story. Police arrested her and she was secured in the backseat of the police car with a seatbelt with her purse sitting in the front seat.
Yingling was of the car taking to the property owner. That is when Indiana State Trooper John Yung to stopped and found Tosti retrieving her purse from the front seat, and opened a pill bottle on the seat and licked them up.
Tosti had a prescription for the pills filled the day before - for 90 pills. There were only 66 left in the bottle and a decision was made to take Tosti to the hospital.
Once at the hospital, Tosti started yelling, cursing and causing a disturbance.es.
While Tosti was in the emergency room, a woman who works there was attempting to assist Tosti and told the police Tosti spit on her. Tosti also allegedly swatted at ER personnel and was grabbing their arms.
The case against Tosti was filed Monday and a summons was sent to her ordering her to appear in court. During an initial hearing scheduled in Greene Superior Court, she is expected to be charged with criminal trespass -- a class A misdemeanor, battery -- a class B misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct -- a class B misdemeanor.
