(BLOOMINGTON) - Firefighters from area departments spent several hours Saturday afternoon battling a brush fire on Elwren Road in southwestern Monroe County.
Firefighters were called to the brush fire, which had spread to a wooded area, on the 8000 block of Elwren Road about 3 p.m. Saturday. By 8 p.m. fire departments were still at the scene of the fire.
The Van Buren Township Fire Department received assistance from other area fire departments, including Bloomington Township, Perry-Clear Creek, Eastern Greene, Center Township and members of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
