Fire At Camp Atterbury

Last updated on Monday, April 8, 2013

(EDINBURGH) - The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office confirms a fire broke out at Camp Atterbury Saturday evening.

The fire happened on the Military side of the base. Camp Atterbury is a training base of the Indiana National Guard.

Authorities say the fire started around 5 p.m. There is no word on how it started, but it does not appear to be suspicious.

No injuries were reported.

Camp Atterbury Fire, Johnson County Fire, and Trafalgar Fire crews were assisting in the incident. Johnson County dispatchers say the fire was under control as of 7:30 p.m.

Fire crews worked to extinguish vegetation fires in the post's impact zone back in Nov. 2010.
