Dream Playhouse Auction Nets $31,290

(BEDFORD) - The Dream Playhouse Auction raised $26,700 for the Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence County.

Another $4,590 in donations raised the proceeds to $31,290.

The top seller Tri-County's Batman playhouse (below) sold for $7,500.

Jim Sowders, resource development chairman for the club along with Hope Sowders, Haley Sowders, Doug Kellams, Nathan and Brittany McClain, David Wigington, Craig Bowden, Greg and Marci Pittman, Pam and Dale McIntyre and Heidi Williams pitched in to buy the Batman house for 5-year-old Cole Winnefeld.

Sowders was elated when auctioneer Tony Kinser said sold.

Winnefeld, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, an extracranial solid cancer. He is currently in New York for chemotherapy, according to Leisa Deckard, Winnefeld's aunt.
Sowders says,Cole loves Batman and Sowders says Cole is a superhero himself and it only seemed fitting to buy the Batcave for him.

The Indiana University basketball playhouse was not sold Saturday because it's being saved to raffle away at a later event. However, it did receive the most votes from people who viewed the houses throughout the day, earning the Torch Club, the People's Choice Award.

Bedford Federal Savings Bank sold the house that won the Best Designed Award for $4,000.

The Craftsmanship Award was handed to the Pritchett Brothers for their house that sold for $2,500.

Spring Mill Fraternal Order of Police won the Imagination Award. Their house went for $2,000.

The Reserved Grand Champion went to Lineal Contracting which sold for $4,500, while the Grand Champion Award was for the Bedford Fire Department firehouse which sold for $3,600.

General Motors, UAW and IBEW collaborated on a house that was auctioned for $2,600 and the jail playhouse sold at $2,000.
