Deischer Crowned Freedom Festival Queen

(UNDATED) - Halea Franklin of the Greene County Daily World reports that the 2013 Linton Freedom Festival queen is Dyllanne Deischer.

Deischer was crowned queen Saturday night at the Linton Freedom Festival Queen Pageant at Linton-Stockton High School.

Along with the title of Freedom Festival queen, she also received a $500 scholarship.
Autumn Reed was named first runner-up and received a $200 scholarship, while Hannah Bough was named second runner-up. Reed lives with her grandparents, Wayne and Barbara Reed, while Bough is the daughter of Anita Bough and Robert and Audrey Bough.

Other contestants:
* Ashley Cooper, the daughter of Gary and Marlene Cooper.
* Stephanie Rudolph, the daughter of Carolyn Lubin.
* Michaela Clifford, the daughter of Angela Moss.
* Jerrica Moss, the daughter of Kathy Moss and Chad Moss.

Former Linton Mayor and current Greene County Council member Patti Jones served as emcee for the event.

The girls were scored in a variety of categories including: Information from a scholarship packet, private interview, sportswear, evening gown, and on-stage question.

Deischer, the daughter of Bill and Becky Deischer, plans on attending Indiana University. She plans to continue her education at Mauer School of Law to become an immigration attorney, specializing in immigration law. During high school, she has participated in Miner Kadets, National Honor Society, Student Council, and Junior Civitan. She also volunteers for the Susan G. Komen of the Wabash Valley. She's a kicker on the football team, being named Rookie of the Year in 2009 and Special Teams Player of the Year in 2012. She holds the national record for career points for a female kicker.

Reed plans on attending Western Carolina University to study anthropology. She is involved in Junior Civitan, and she serves as president of the Art Club. She's received the Girl Scout's silver and gold awards, and he also enjoys volunteering.

Bough, an academic honors student, plans to attend Purdue University's School of Pharmacy and to work in hospital pharmaceuticals. As a freshman she was named top biology student, and she was named top student in German I, II, and III. She's captain of the Miner Kadet squad and enjoys running track.

Entertainment was provided by members of the cast of Little Women: Lauryn Miller, Allie Foglesong, Geoffery Gentry, and Joel Young. The musical will be performed April 26-28.
Linton-Stockton sophomores Joel Travis and Nick White served as escorts during the evening gown competition.

Helping with the coronation were 2012 Miss Sparkler Mylee Jo Wagner, 2012 Mister Firecracker Westin LeDune, and 2012 Freedom Festival Queen Gabrielle Pattison.
