Last updated on Wednesday, April 3, 2013

(PATOKA LAKE) - Indiana Conservation Officers say an autopsy report confirms 22-year-old Matthew Buroker, of Evansville and 22-year-old Ryan Dowdell, of Winslow died of asphyxia due to drowning.

Buroker and Dowdell were participating in a bow fishing tournament at Patoka Lake on Saturday when their boat took on water and sank.

Two other men in the boat24-year-old Laban King and 27-yeaer-old Jacob King, of Winslow were passengers in the boat and were rescued.

The official cause of the boat accident has not been determined and is still being investigated by Indiana Conservation Officer Detectives. Once that investigation is complete an update will follow.

Indiana Conservation Officers strongly encourage the use of life jackets on or near the water. A wearable life jacket is required by law for every person in a boat on public waters.
