(BEDFORD) - Cami Pritchett, director of Becky's Place, is on the board of the South Central Housing Network which works to coordinate efforts across the region to provide services to those experiencing homelessness most efficiently

There will be several Charrette events to help formulate a plan to alleviate homelessness in Greene, Lawrence, Martin, Monroe, Morgan and Owen counties.

"This portion of the process gives community members the opportunity to share their thoughts, ideas, questions, concerns regarding issues of homelessness as well as hear from a panel of experts in this area," Pritchett says.

Community meetings are open to the public and will take place in Council Chambers at Bloomington City Hall, 401 N. Morton Street, Bloomington.

Meetings will begin with registration at 8 am on Monday April 22 and Tuesday April 23.

During these community meetings, local and regional experts will share experience for the first hour, and everyone in attendance will be invited to share reactions and comments during the second hour. CSH will use these sessions as the basis of the draft report of recommendations for South Central Indiana that will be presented in the same location on Friday, April 26th from 1pm to 3pm. The community is invited to this presentation to offer feedback that will be incorporated into the final report.

What is a CSH Community Planning Charrette?

To ensure robust participation and feedback from the community, the Steering Committee led by the South Central Housing Network (SCHN), engaged CSH to organize and deliver a condensed community process, known as a CSH Community Planning Charrette (CSH Charrette).

The CSH Charrette takes what is typically a long-term planning process, and focuses our community-wide energy on key issue areas. There are three phases to this process detailed below. With guidance from the Steering Committee, CSH has worked closely with the community to identify key issue areas, review data, and prepare for the Charrette week. Four community meetings were also held to narrow down the issue areas and gather feedback for the Charrette week. In addition to the four meetings led by the SCHN, other community groups held public discussion whose insight and recommendations were also used to inform the Charrette. During an intensive Charrette Week, community conversations take place and recommendations are developed.

This results in a final framework for action that will shape the plan to end homelessness for "Region 10" which includes Monroe, Lawrence, Greene, Morgan, Martin, and Owen counties.

Following the Charrette Week, The South Central Housing Network and partners will then prioritize recommendations and utilize the report to craft and implement their plan to end and prevent homelessness.
