Bedford Man Arrested After Police Find More Than 100 Marijuana Plants

(GUTHRIE) - A Bedford man was arrested Monday night after police received a tip that he was growing marijuana.

According to Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig, the Lawrence County Drug Task Force obtained a search warrant after receiving the information about a marijuana grow at a home at 56 Old Guthrie Road.

Police arrested 47-year-old Doug Barrett on charges of cultivating marijuana, dealing marijuana, possession of marijuana over 30 grams, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of drug paraphernalia.

"There were more than 100 marijuana plants in a workshop behind the home," Craig says. "Then in the home officers found more marijuana plants. They also found numerous firearms."

Officers also found rolled marijuana cigarettes, drug paraphernalia and baggies filled with processed marijuana.

The Drug Task Force was assisted by Lawrence County officers and detectives and K-9 units during the search.
