Tickets For NCAA Basketball Tournament Still Climbing

Last updated on Wednesday, March 27, 2013

(UNDATED) - It was a close one Sunday, but IU is headed to the Sweet 16 in the men’s NCAA basketball tournament.

Sadly, not here in Indianapolis. Indiana University plays their first game Thursday in Washington, DC.

March Madness arrives in Indianapolis this weekend for the semifinals which will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium. Four teams will play in Indianapolis: Louisville, Michigan State, Oregon, and Duke.

The Colts' home has been converted into a basketball arena. Only half of the stadium will be used for the NCAA basketball games.

Since IU is playing their Sweet 16 games in Washington DC, it will be Louisville and Michigan State fans who are expected to buy the most tickets fill up these seats.
Tickets prices are at a premium.

Lower level tickets for both days cost around $275 a person. Upper level will put you back about a hundred less. It is possible to find tickets at face-value from IU fans who bought them before the regionals were decided.

If basketball fans are interested in checking a tournament game off their bucket list, the advice from the folks at Circle City Tickets is to get online and buy tickets sooner rather than later.

"It is hard to predict, sometimes we've seen it go up as we get closer. There might be a last minute influx of fans. Especially when you see the situation where half of the fans can drive in. We could see it go up at the end," said Mike Peduto with Circle City Tickets.

If you can't stand the thought of watching tournament games in Indiana when the Hoosiers are on the road, the tickets in Washington, DC to watch IU play are pricey. Tickets on Monday were averaging above $300 for both days per person.
