Medora Considering Expanding Athletic Department

Last updated on Thursday, March 21, 2013

(MEDORA) - Medora Community Schools is considering expanding its athletic department, and Superintendent Tom Judd told school board members the district is showing interest in several programs.

Judd outlined the possibilities during Monday, March 11's regular school board meeting. His discussion was for information purposes only; board members did not vote on or discuss a formal proposal.

But Judd said corporation officials had discussed adding bowling, golf, baseball and archery.

Judd said one area company expressed interest in helping start a baseball program.

"Wal-Mart Distribution is willing to donate to start a program," he said. "They may help with something about a field or something like that. It's exciting."

Judd said bowling would take place at Starlite Bowl in Seymour and that adding that sport could be a real possibility for the school in upcoming years.

Judd said the school would continue weighing decisions on expanding the athletic department.
