Dove Award Winner Ann Downing To Perform At Orleans Methodist Church

Last updated on Monday, March 11, 2013

(ORLEANS) - Dove Award winner Ann Downing of the Gaither Homecoming Video Series, Christian singer, speaker and author, will be a presenter at the Orleans United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. on Sunday.

The event is free to attend, and no reservations are necessary. There will be a love offering, and all the proceeds will go to Downing for her ministries. Her CDs and, possibly, book will be for sale during the event.

Downing grew up on a cotton farm in Mississippi. She started singing after high school, and since then, has won the Dove Award for Female Vocalist. Downing is the author of the book "Skidmarks on the Road of Life."

She co-founded the Downings, a mixed quartet southern gospel group, with her husband, Paul, who passed away in 1992, two months before the first Middle Tennessee Women's Retreat they planned together.

Linda Harris, worship committee chairwoman, is hoping that people from all over will attend the event March 17 in Orleans. She invites other local churches to combine meetings for that night with the Orleans United Methodist Church, which can hold 200-250 people.
