(SEYMOUR) - Indiana Conservation Officers recovered a stolen vehicle late last night after a crash near Seymour in Jackson County.
According to a press release from Indiana Conservation Officer Jim Schreck, the driver, Robert Robbins, 23, of Commiskey, was arrested and charged with resisting law enforcement, operating without a valid license, and receiving stolen property.
At approximately 8:40 p.m. an Indiana Conservation Officer was patrolling west on U.S. Hwy 50 from the Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge when a green Volvo passed on a double yellow line.
Due to the unsafe driving behavior, the conservation officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop.
The Volvo continued westbound into Seymour before exiting onto Interstate 65 North, where 2 Indiana State Police Troopers assumed the lead role in the pursuit from the conservation officer.
They pursued the Volvo until it crashed while attempting to avoid traffic. One state police cruiser, a semi truck and the Volvo were involved in the collision. No serious injuries were reported.
Indiana State Police investigated the crash, which ultimately shut down the interstate.
The suspect, Robert Robbins, was taken into custody by conservation officers and transported to the Jackson County Jail.
It was determined that the 1995 Volvo was reported stolen earlier that day from Jennings County. The incident remains under investigation.
