(ORANGE COUNTY) - Each year Saving Historic Orange County offers a worthwhile project designed to help youngsters develop an appreciation for local history.

The organization invites all of the county's fourth-graders to select a historic site or structure in the county, research it and produce a poster sharing information they have discovered.

SHOC chooses to offer the opportunity to fourth-graders because fourth-grade pupils study Orange County history, SHOC reports that, in past years, well-known historic sites and structures have been featured, but lesser-known historic homes, churches and sites have surfaced as a result of fourth-graders' research.

Projects must be completed by April 12 and delivered to one of the three elementary school offices.

Information is available from Terry and Brenda Cornwell, Robert Henderson or Jeff Lane.
