(BEDFORD) - Barring a rash of bad weather, Bedford North Lawrence High School’s seniors will pick up their diplomas on May 31.
Mike Lewis, of the Times-Mail reports, the Mitchell High School's Class of 2013, barring any days missed for weather complications, will march across the commencement stage May 24.
BNL Principal Roger Dean recommended that date to the school board, and board members unanimously approved it Thursday night.
"In the past, we've had to wait and see what our weather issues might be," Superintendent Dennis Turner told board members. "We still could have that, with March looming out in front of us."
But students have missed relatively few days of school because of inclement weather. That made officials confident enough to recommend the May 31 date.
Field trips
Board members also approved key dates for some other activities:
-- Shawswick Middle School's eighth-grade field trip to Indianapolis will be April 24.
-- Oolitic Middle School's eighth-grade field trip to Indianapolis will be May 17.
-- Business Professionals of America's state competition in Indianapolis will be March 10-12.
-- The BNL Marching Stars band will participate in the Pegasus Parade in Louisville May 3.
-- The Marching Stars also will participate in the Music Showcase Festival in Lebanon, Ohio, and Cincinnati on May 11.
-- The BNL choirs will perform at the Central Station and the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., over spring break, March 23-27.
