Bedford Woman Arrested After She Allegedly Steals Hummer

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford woman was arrested after she allegedly stole a man’s Hummer and fled the scene.

According to Bedford and Lawrence County police logs, 25-year-old Julia Harper, of 2884 Mount Pleasant Road was arrested Tuesday afternoon after police stopped her in an alleged stolen vehicle on Ind. 37, just south of the Avoca exit.

According to police logs a man dialed 911 at 1:43 pm. reporting he was involved in a domestic fight with Harper and that she had stolen his black Hummer and fled his home on Broadview Drive.

He told police he was following Harper in a green Avalanche.

Officers stopped the Hummer which was traveling north on Ind. 37, just south of the Avoca exit at 1:45 p.m.

Harper was arrested and charged with vehicle theft, theft, possession of stolen property and possession of a handgun without a permit.

She was then taken to the Lawrence County Jail and the vehicle was returned to the owner.
