(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bedford man and two others were arrested Sunday after Bloomington Police found handguns in their vehicle.
According to police, officers stopped the vehicle at the corner of South Patterson Drive and South Adams Street, just after midnight.
The vehicle was stopped because the officer noticed the license plate light was not working. Police say the plate was also obscured.
During the traffic stop, a K-9 officer checked the vehicle for narcotics and alerted on the vehicle several times.
Police then searched the vehicle and found no narcotics, but they did find a shotgun in the trunk.
The driver 33-year-old Jonathon Neill, of Stinesville, had a black Kel-Tec 9 mm handgun in his possession and a Firestorm .40-caliber handgun was under his seat. That weapon belonged to 33-year-old Cory Alcorn, of Bedford. Police say Alcorn put the gun under the driver's seat.
Police also found a black Springfield XD 9 mm handgun with another passenger, 37-year-old Jamie Smith, of Bloomington.
Neill and Alcorn were arrested on charges of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. Smith was charged with possession of a handgun by a violent felon.
A fourth person in the vehicle was not charged.
