Worthington Considering Weapons Ban In Municipal s

Last updated on Sunday, February 17, 2013

(WORTHINGTON) - There are plenty of people around the county who are legally carrying concealed weapons, but the Worthington Town Council has directed its town attorney to draft an ordinance making it illegal for anyone - except police officers - to carry a gun or any other concealed weapons inside the municipal building.

Nick Schneider, of the Greene County Daily World reports, the idea to have Town Attorney Jacob Fish put together a concealed weapons ordinance came from Council President Mackey Stahl, who said in the wake of recent shootings in public places across the nation, the move is aimed at protecting the safety of town employees who work in the building and town residents who conduct business there.

"We don't want any weapons carried in this building," Stahl stressed.

Fish will be directed to have an ordinance ready for the council to look at and act on at next month's meeting.
