Last updated on Sunday, February 10, 2013

(SALEM) - Washington County authorities believe they have solved several recent burglaries and thefts with the arrest of four individuals, three of whom they say are connected.

Stephanie Taylor Ferriell, of the Leader Democrat reports, Captain Roger Newlon of the Washington County Sheriff's Department says 28-year-old Joseph Thompson, of Misty Hollow Road, was arrested in connection with a theft at a Blue River Road residence.

He was a suspect in three other burglary/theft cases and Newlon said he confessed to all three when interviewed. The alleged crimes all took place in November and Thompson was arrested Jan. 20.

He is charged with three counts of burglary, a Class B felony, and three counts of theft, a Class D felony.

"He knew all the homeowners," said Newlon. Residents reported money, including a large coin collection, jewelry and electronics missing. None of the items were recovered. "He pretty much admitted he got rid of it as soon as he took it," said Newlon.

Thompson remains incarcerated in the Washington County Detention Center. His bond is $97,750 full cash only.

Trio suspects in burglaries

Three people arrested in a Clarksville motel Jan. 9 are suspects in several local burglaries.

Newlon said information from Floyd County led to the arrest of the three, who were living at the motel. They are also suspected in connection with crimes in Louisville.

Arrested were Nichole Brewster, 25, formerly of Pekin, Charles Bryant, 37, Louisville and Robert Bentel, 41, Louisville. They are suspected in burglaries on New Year's Day at a State Road 60 residence and in an Oct. 31 burglary at a Gobbler's Knob Road home. They are charged with two counts of burglary, Class B felony, and two D felony theft counts, as well as aiding in burglary, B felony.
