(BLOOMFIELD) -The juvenile who is suspected of causing Bloomfield School District to go into lockdown mode Friday, Jan. 25 is facing adult charges in Clay County in an unrelated incident.
Sabrina Westfall, of the Greene County Daily World reports, Clay County Prosecutor Lee Reberger announced Friday Jacob Farnsworth, 17, would be tried as an adult because the state "felt it was appropriate under the circumstances" to file the adult charges against Farnsworth, according to information provided by The Brazil Times.
As of late Friday afternoon, Clay County Circuit Judge Joe Trout ruled to waive the juvenile to adult court.
Adult charges will be filed through the Clay County Circuit Court Monday morning.
Bloomfield Town Marshal Kenneth Tharp said as of Friday, there had been no charges filed with the Greene County Prosecutor's Office.
The location of Farnsworth stems back to Bloomfield School District officials receiving reports Thursday, Jan. 24 of a suspicious person on the campus who was looking for a teenage student.
Superintendent Dan Sichting told The Greene County Daily World, the suspicious person tried to gain access to the junior-senior high school, but principal David Dean confronted the juvenile and denied him access. The juvenile allegedly stated he was looking to enroll at the school.
The juvenile, who has been identified as Farnsworth, told a school staff member he was an undercover police officer looking for a juvenile student.
Farnsworth was taken into custody by the Bloomfield Police Department for questioning about the incident on Thursday night, but was later released with no grounds to hold the juvenile.
Then the following day, a Clay County School official contacted Dean and said there had been a similar incident at his school. The person was believed to be under investigation for a sexual assault.
Clay County Sheriff's Department picked up Farnsworth Friday, Jan. 25 and he was charged with sexual battery, a class C felony, and held in a juvenile detention facility.
