Oolitic Town Marshal Warns Residents Of Medicare Scam

(OOLITIC) - Oolitic Town Marshal Jon Jeffries is warning residents about a Medicare scam.

A resident reported she received a call requesting banking information.

The caller told the woman they needed the information to send her a new Medicare card.

The woman hung up and called police, but the caller, called back.

"The caller was very insistent and told the woman they needed her personal and banking information in order to send the new Medicare card," Jeffries says.

Jeffries says the number they called from (702) 442-0224, was located in Nevada.

Jeffries warns residents to never give out banking information over the phone.

"Medicare will not call on the phone to obtain the information," Jeffries warns.

Anyone who receives a call like this should report it to police immediately.
