(MEDORA) - Jackson County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Medora man after an investigation last year found he committed burglary and attempted theft.
Police arrested 28-year-old Timothy Edwards, on charges of burglary and attempted theft.
According to a press release, in an investigation that began in 2012, the sheriff's department received a call that a property owner had Edwards held inside of an outbuilding where they found Edwards attempting to steal items from the building.
The property owner told police he waited on Edwards, after several previous burglaries from his outbuilding.
Edwards had overpowered the owner and escaped on foot while officers were responding to the scene.
Officers found were able to find Edwards a short time later.
Detective Ben Rudolph collected items from inside the building and the items were sent to the Indiana State Police Laboratory Division for DNA analysis and those results found the DNA belonged to Edwards.
He was arrested at the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown.
Edwards was already in jail on a driving while suspended charge with a prior conviction within 10 years at the time of his arrest. Medora Town Marshal Steve Ingle made the driving while suspended arrest Feb. 7.
Edwards is being held at the Jackson County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
