Linton-Stockton School Corporation On Lock Down Today

Last updated on Monday, February 4, 2013

(LINTON) - The Linton Police Department will lockdown the Linton schools today due to information received by a school administrator.

Superintendent Nick Karazsia issued a press release Sunday night stating information was received by elementary school principal Kent Brewer that prompted the lockdown.
Officials are not saying what kind of threat the school received.

"Mr. Brewer received information about a possible threat to our students. We would like to emphasize that no specific names of students were given along with no specific time or place in the information that he received," Karazsia says in the press release.

Upon receiving the threat, Brewer contacted the Linton Police Department, and it was determined there would be increased police presence on the campus.

According to the press release, the lockdown will also involve heightened security in each of the school buildings along with the increase in police presence.

"Our school staff and the police department work diligently to provide a safe school environment. We investigate every rumor or threat, and every threat is taken very seriously because we care very deeply about the safety of every student and staff member in our schools," Karazsia wrote.
