Linton Doctor Offering Free Health Advice And Dinner

Last updated on Tuesday, February 5, 2013

(LINTON) - Dr. Steven Brinson, of WellnessFirst Chiropractic in Linton, is hosting a “Talk with the Doc” dinner Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Goosepond Pizza.

Brinson said the third annual dinner gives people the chance to learn about getting healthy and ask questions they may have about their health.

"The main reason for this dinner is helping and educating people to start a healthier way of living," Brinson explained.

Sabrina Westfall, of the Greene County Daily World reports, the topic for the evening will be "Eight Ways to Wellness," and will cover a broad spectrum of topics, he said.

Brinson noted any and all of the topics could be tailored to answer specific questions for each person looking to start getting healthy.

"One of the topics will be the importance of water in an everyday, well-balanced diet," Brinson said. "I've had people ask me if their cup of coffee counts. No, it doesn't."

Brinson said the dinner is also important because it allows an informal setting to ease the tension of having a conversation with a doctor about health-related topics.
"This is a question and answer. ... If it (a topic) triggers a question, you can get an answer right then and there," Brinson's wife, Amanda, noted.

Brinson said the personal interactions between himself and those who attend the meeting may help people be more forthcoming with questions to start their journey to being healthy, or help get past an obstacle.

Through the question-and-answer portion, patrons can learn specifically how each topic can help anyone ranging from children to the elderly.

"It's a foundational block. What you're going to hear and learn can be applied to any lifestyle," Brinson said.

He added while Internet research can be beneficial to getting on track to a better lifestyle, this meeting will allow immediate answers directed towards an individual's needs.

Brinson said on a personal level, he holds the annual meetings to give back to the community where he was raised.

Seating for the "Talk with a Doc" meeting is limited, and an RSVP must be received by Feb. 7. To reserve a spot, call WellnessFirst Chiropractic at 847-4330.
