(LINTON) - 56-year-old Renne Long was arrested at Walmart, in Linton, after she was apprehended by the store's loss prevention officers.
She allegedly had more than 40 items concealed in her purse.
Anna Rochell of the Greene County Daily World reports that Patrolman Brock Garrison of the Linton Police Department was dispatched to the WalMart store Thursday evening.
Garrison was met by a loss prevention officer employed by the store who says he witnessed Long, of Linton taking items off store shelves and putting them in her purse starting around 4:45 p.m.
He reported his went on until around 9 p.m. when the woman entered a checkout lane and paid for groceries she had in a cart. She failed to pay for items in her purse so he approached her and detained her until police arrived.
The employee told Garrison that Long was cooperative and admitted to taking the items.
Long had allegedly concealed, including items from the pharmacy, personal care and cosmetic areas in her purse. The items were worth $230, according to a probable cause affidavit.
After Long was placed in handcuffs, still more items were reportedly found in her purse and in her pockets.
As the employee continued to gather evidence from the store's security cameras, Officer Garrison walked Long to his patrol car and transported her to the Greene County Jail where she was booked in around 11 p.m. and charged with theft.
Her bond was set at $4,000 surety or ten percent cash. A cash bond of $400 was posted and she was released on Friday.
