(BEDFORD) - Norm Taylor’s creation, the Lawrence County History Festival will continue.
Taylor died after suffering a heart attack in November, organized and orchestrated the festival each spring.
The festival included crafts, re-enactments, dancing, Native American pow-wows, food, and an ensemble of historic figures strolling the campground.
Norm's wife Annette and daughter Kelly Nicol will serve as co-directors of this year's festival. They had no trouble recruiting assistants.
Prep Committee members include: Ginger East; Doug and Lori Roberts; Matthew Miller; Logan and Beth Felts; Greg and Aaron Baker; Lowell Bailey; Heather Couch; Ashley Hilkey; Daniel Baker; Haley Peters; Angie Timan; Larry Tackett; Marilyn Cleveland; Lynn Jeffers; George Miller; Chuck Sallee; and Betsy Middleton.
The festival is scheduled for April 20 and 21. Saturday's activities run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The fest resumes Sunday at noon and concludes at 4 p.m.
Annette says a Civil War artillery unit is coming, and there are plans for Civil War skirmishes and WWII battles both days. The pow-wow will return again, and a tree will be planted Saturday in honor of Norm.
The local band NoX will provide music Saturday night for what organizers hope will morph into a "Normfest."
