(CORTLAND) - A truck driver hauling soybean meal managed to escape injury after a wreck early Tuesday morning on State Road 258 west of Cortland.
Bob Kreite, 62, of Seymour told Indiana State Trooper David Owsley that his semitrailer left the south side of the road after Kriete swerved to avoid an animal.
"He wasn't sure what kind of animal, he just saw something run across the road," Owsley said of the wreck, reported at 5:30 a.m. in the 200 block of East State Road 258. "The right front tire went off the ."
Owsley said Kriete was not traveling too fast when the wreck occurred in a stretch where State Road 258 goes uphill.
Kriete, who drives for Boknecht Trucking Inc., Seymour, had just picked up a load of soybean meal from the processing plant at Rose Acre Farms and was headed east toward Seymour and Interstate 65. His eventual destination was Franklin, Ky.

No injuries were reported in the wreck, which closed the road for nearly five hours.
