Former Corrections Officer Pleads Guilty

Last updated on Wednesday, February 27, 2013

(MARTINSVILLE) - Attorneys and a Morgan County judge reached a plea agreement Monday in a case against a former jail corrections officer.

The Reporter-Times reports that 21-year-old Nicholas Tankersley has agreed to plead guilty to one count of official misconduct.

In return, the other two charges will be dismissed.

Tankersley was charged last year with sexual battery, theft and battery after several female inmates made accusations that Tankersley gave them special treatment for sexual experiences.

A pre-sentence investigation and sentencing is set for 11:30 a.m. March 25 in Morgan County Superior Court 3. The offense is a Class D felony and Tankersley could face up to six months to 3 years incarceration.

Tankersley was terminated from his employment upon the investigation. He is being held in the Johnson County Jail.
