Fire Destroys Orleans Home

Last updated on Saturday, February 2, 2013

(ORLEANS) - Firefighters are still trying to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed an Orleans home Thursday night.

Norman "Red" Cundiff, safety officer for the Orleans Municipal Fire Department, says the house located on Mitchell Drive, off West Vincennes Street, is owned by Steve Johnson.

Ten Orleans firefighters, along with volunteers from Orange County Rural District II and Marion Township departments were called to extinguish the blaze that was reported at 8:54 p.m.

When firefighters arrived the home was engulfed in flames.

No one was home when the fire broke out. Johnson was at a ball game, according to firefighters' reports. No one was injured.

The fire was out just after midnight, but firefighters remained on the scene Friday morning.
