(NASHVILLE) - The fifth annual Brown County Glass Slipper Project is underway.
Organizer Allison Waters says this event helps young ladies with financial hardships to have a great prom without worrying about money.
Event organizers have worked to improve the event to reduce any social stigma associated with young ladies using the service.
Waters says they are currently accepting donations of prom dresses and accessories through Art's Cleaners and DJ Cleaners in Columbus, as well as through the New Life Community Church in Nashville.
The actual distribution of the dresses and accessories will take place Saturday, March 9 at the Brown County High School gym from noon to 4 p.m.
Waters says there will also be hair and makeup artists in attendance to help the girls look their best on prom night.
Girls can also pick out jewelry to top off their gowns. Waters says, while they have many donated pieces for girls to use, they have three local jewelers who have generously donated their time and materials to create pieces for them at no charge.
While Waters says it is wonderful to help out young women in need, those that volunteer their time and treasure often get the most out the program.
