(BLOOMINGON) - Troopers in Bloomington uncovered a meth lab in Bloomington Tuesday night belonging to a husband and a wife.

Indiana State Police Meth Task Force troopers responded to a home on the 5100 block of Madison Street in Bloomington following an ongoing investigation into meth manufacturing at that residence, according to a press release.

Troopers found an active meth lab in the home and a variety of chemicals, including sodium hydroxide lye, sulfuric acid, lithium metal, pseudoephedrine, ammonium nitrate, starting fluid and camp fuel.

Troopers also found white powder that tested positive for methamphetamine and paraphernalia used to ingest methamphetamine.

Hazardous mixed chemical reactions used to produce methamphetamine were also located.

Troopers arrested Julia Nicole Aylward (Hamm) she faces preliminary charges of manufacturing methamphetamine and maintaining a common nuisance.

They also arrested her husband, Benjamin J. Aylward. He faces preliminary charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of precursors, maintaining a common nuisance, and possession of paraphernalia.

Both were taken to the Monroe County Jail.

Anyone with information reference possible methamphetamine activity can contact the Indiana State Police Methamphetamine Task Force at 812-332-4411.

Often times anonymous tips can lead to successful investigations and the removal of dangerous methamphetamine labs. The labs can give off a distinct odor that can be compared to a smell of ammonia and/or a chemical odor associated with starting fluid or camp fuel.
