Tax Help Available At Bedford And Mitchell Libraries

(UNDATED) - The Bedford Public Library and the Mitchell Community Public Library will sponsor VITA income tax assistance again this year for Lawrence County residents.

The VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program offers free tax help to low- to moderate-income people who cannot prepare their own tax returns.

Generally those with incomes of $50,000 and below are eligible. Only basic, individual returns are eligible (no business returns or returns for past years).

Community volunteers receive extensive training to help prepare basic tax returns in communities across the country.

Both libraries provide a confidential environment for taxpayers, staff support, equipment, and supplies to help make this possible.

Appointments are required at the Bedford Public Library. Call 275-4471 for an appointment.

Volunteers will be available at the Bedford Public Library at the following dates and times:

Jan. 26: 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Feb. 5: Noon to 4 p.m.
Feb. 9: 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Feb. 19: 4-7 p.m.
Feb. 23: 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Feb. 26: 4-7 p.m.
March 5: 4-7 p.m.
March 16: 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
March 23: 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The library may have optional dates depending on demand.
