"Save The Eagles Day" Jan. 10 At Bedford Public Library

Last updated on Friday, January 4, 2013

(BEDFORD) - Bedford area children and adults can celebrate “Save the Eagles Day,” Jan. 10, by attending educational programs on the once-endangered bird at Bedford Public Library.

From 3 to 5 p.m., kids ages 6 to 14 can drop by the children's department to learn how to identify bald and golden eagles. There will also be a simple eagle craft.

At 6 p.m. in the program room, adults and older children can hear how the bald eagle almost disappeared from Indiana and was reintroduced at Monroe Lake.

There will also be a discussion on current eagle populations and the best places to view them at the lake.

"January 10 is 'Save the Eagles Day,' said Jill Vance, Monroe Lake's naturalist. "We're excited to share the story of how Monroe Lake did just that."

The library is at 1323 K. St. For more information, call the Paynetown Activity Center at (812) 837-9967 or email jvance@dnr.IN.gov.
